THE CRICKET SEASON.
OPENING DAY MATCHES. Some of the clubs affiliated with the Canterbury Cricket' Association will open their season to-morrow. Others will start on October 3. At the Hagley Park, Cricket Ground to-morrow the following matches, will be played by the St. Albans Club, play starting at 2.15 p.m. ST. ALBANS CLUB.

It was decided that there be recorded on the minutes the chib's warmest appreciation of the splendid services rendered by Mr W. McLennan in furtherance of the game in Kaikoura, " It was agreed that the season be opened next Monday, and a collection made on the ground in aid of the local Patriotic Fund. Mr J. J. Coffey offered a gold medal for the player attending the most Wednesday afternoon practices, and Mr R. , H. Powell one for the highest aggregate for the season, while Mr W. Patterson gave a like trophy for the bowler taking the most wickets in. matches during the season.
