ASSESSMENT COURT.
SITTING AT EANGIORA.
A sitting of the Assessment Court, to hear objections raised to the valuations of properties in the Rangiora and Eyre Counties and Rangiora Borough, was held at Rangiora yesterday, Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S. M., presiding. Messrs W. Cunningham and S. Hassell appeared as assessors for the Eyre County; Messrs W. Cunningham and J. Stevenson for the Rangiora County, and Messrs W. Cunningham and G. R. Good' for the Rangiora Borough. Mr H. L. Wiggins. appeared to represent the Valuation Department. All objections in respect of the Eyre County Council valuation roll had been settled before the sitting of the court. Only one objection was heard in "respect of Rangiora County, Andrew Gardiner, a farmer residing at Cust, objecting to the valuation of £l6lO placed on his farjtn, a holding of 103 acres. After hearing evidence, the committee reduced the valuation to £1550.
-In respect of the Rangiora Borough the following reductions were made:— John Johnston, u from capital value £7120, unimproved value £2870, to capital value £6837, unimproved £2587, improvements £4250. J. Johnston, a second objector, capital value £1075, reduced to £950; unimproved value reduced from £IOOO to £875. H. Boyd, capital value reduced from £1240 to £llsO, and unimproved from £B2O to' £730. Rangiora Good Templars' Lodge, capital valuation £4OO, reduced to £3BO, the unimproved value being decreased by £2O. In the Cust Riding, A. Gardiner appealed, and was granted a reduction of j his valuation by £llO.
