AMERICAN STEAMER GOES DOWN ONLY TWO 'SURVIVORS. By Cable.—Press Association.—Com/rluht. (Received September 21, 10.50 a.m.) NEW YORK, September 20. The steamer Francis H. Leggetfc foundered in a gale on Friday. Seventy were drowned, including fifty-one passengers. There were only two survivors.

[The Francis H. Leggett was a" steel screw three-masted steamer of 1606 tons. She was built in 1903, and was. owned by the Hicks-Hamptmaine Lumber Company, of San Francisco. The vessel was fitted with a wireless installation and for the consumption of oil fuel.]
