Lord Kitchener, in the House of [Lords, paid a tribute to Sir John [French V consummate skill and ealm icourage in withdrawing his force in the face of a, vastly superior number. - He added that the British force in the -field would be kept at full strength by drawing on the: overseas garrisons anil replacing them by Territorials, of whom a ; division' had- already been' .sent - to Egypt and a brigade to Malta.' Four armies' are l now being raised.
