CYCLE ROAD RACE.

TIMARU TO CHRISTCHURCH. Prizes aggregating £lO9 13/-, in cash and trophies, will be given for the Timaru-to-Christchurch eyele road race, 112 miles, to be held on Saturday, October 17. The first prize will be £2O in cash and a gold medal valued at £5, the second prize £5 in cash and a bicycle valued at £ls 15/-, the third prize £2 2/-. in cash and a bicycle valued at £ls 15/-, and there will be five other prizes. In addition to these, £l2 i 2/in cash and a blue ribbon will go to the rider who completes the journey in the fastest time, and £4 4/- in cash to the second fastest rider, and another special prize of £5 5/- has been donated for the fastest rider under 21 years of age. The race will be held under the rules of the JTew 'Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union, and ill be controlled by the North Canterbury and South Canterbury Centro* of that body. The nomination fee.is six shillings. .
