POOR of GREAT BRITAIN IRELAND and BELGIUM RELIEF FUND The Committee of the above Fund appeals to all New Zealanders for their whole-hearted support and co-opera-tion. The object is to minimise the suffering and misery occasioned by the present war. Under normal conditions there are millions of our fellow-subjects in Great Britain either in want or on the border line of poverty. It is appalling to thinlc what, therefore, must be the extent of the misery and suffering in the Mother Country during the coming winter, owing to want of employment and other effects of the war. In Belgium the position must be even worse, seeing that the inhabitants, in addition to the suffering caused by the stoppage of trade and industry, are suffering the worst horrors of invasion. Thousands of homes have been devastated, and many thousands of bread-winners have been killed in the heroic defence of their country. Surely these facts will excite the pity and call forth the warm-hearted assistance of the people of New Zealand, who are themselves enjoying the blessings of peace and plenty. The Committee hopes to send Home New Zealand food, clothing, and blankets to the value of at least £IOO,OOO, and urgently appeals for donations, no matter how small, to enable this to be done. NO CANVASSERS are working for this Fund, as the Committee considers that the object will of itself be a sufficient recommendation. The Executive of the Prince of Wales Fund will supervise the administration and distribution, and one-fourth of the entire Fund will be allotted to Belgium. For all particulars as to Produce, Clothing, etc., apply to the Joint Secretary, C. M. PARKER, Armagh Street, or MRS F. PRATT, 139 Gloucester Street, Secretary Ladies' Committee. Subscriptions may be forwarded to the Joint Secretary, as above, or to F. H. PYNE, Hon. Treasurer, Cashel Street, or to the "Sun" Office. J. B. REID, Chairman, For the Committee.
