Now and then Now and then you read the statements of some American maker who endeavours to justify his product by telling you that he is following European practice. And yet, Europe, through its highest motor tribunal, honors America by awarding to the Cadillac" the prize most sought by European manufacturers, the Dewar Trophy. This trophy is awarded annually by the Royal Automobile Club- of Great Britain to.the motor car which accomplishes the greatest achievement demonstrating the advancement of the industry. The award is made under the open competition rules of the club. ?> Any reputable maker may compete. Twice has the award been made to the Cadillac. The first time was in 1909, on account of the successful completion of the now famous standardization test—and the Cadillac is the only car ever successfully passing such a test. The second time was in October 1913, when the 1914 Cadillac was decreed to be the car of all round super-excel-lence as a whole. Thus, twice has Europe "taken off its hat," so to speak, to American automobile engineering genius. \- The Cadillac is the only car which has ever brought this honor to Ameriea. It is the only car in the world to which this much prized trophy has foeen awarded twice. And it is only in the Cadillac that you will find these qualities of super-excellence. *3 »2W»* ft W~ «A t%' r !S^# CHRISTCHURCH & AUCKLAND
