Addington -Camp, and 60 to the Palmerston North Camp. The following additional subscrip- j tions have been handed in to the treasiirer:—Mrs Pidgeon (collected); 7/6; Buzzie, Allison, and Lucy, contents of their money boxes, 2/-. "VIOLET DAY." MAKING PREPAEATIONS. A meeting of the ''Violet Day" Committee was held in the Chamber of Commeree this morning, under the presidency of Mrs F. H. Pyne. Most encouraging reports were received on air sides. Offers of gifts of violets, use .of motor cars to convey the flower-sellers and their wariss to the stands, and help in many other ways, flowed in freely. It was arranged that the day (Friday) should be divided into . three shifts, commencing at 8.43 a.m. The first shift 'iwili sell until 12 o'clock, the next until 3, and the last until a quarter past 6. About 150 workers will be enrolled. To-morrow the violets will be received at the Chamber of-Commerce"and.made ap into bundles, and iit this connection the committee again, wish to remind country donors to.have flowers addressed '' Flowers, Special Delivery j '' so as to (insure their arrival on Thursday afternoon. The proceeds are to be devoted to the Great Britain, Ireland, and Belgium. ■Eclief Fund. It is the intention of kh'i committee to spend the money in Christi clvurch, in 'the way of buying'materials for clothing, etc., by which means they design to; help local industry as-well as providing relief for the oversea^ sufferers of the'war.
