CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR UNION.
The vitality of the Endeavour mov#- - meat was amply expressed by the- reports brought in by individual societies at the monthly meeting of the Canterbury C.E. Union, which was held in the . Y.M.C.A. on Thursday evening, August 27. The chair was occupied by the president, the Rev. A. H. Spotter,., who, after the confirmation of the minutes, announced that Mr F. Crabbe had accepted the honorary position of secretary of the union. The Lyttelton Seamen's Home wrote stating that the' third Thursday in each month was to be set aside for a concert to be given by an endeavour society, and all overlapping would be avoided in the future. The Oxford Terrace Baptist Intermediate Society was asked to give the concert for September. The reports given by the societies prove that missionary enterprise receives a great help, especially .financially, and in a number of cases students are kept in education, and orphans are saved ' from a pitiful existence. These features enhance the work and make it world ... wide in its operations. Six senior, two intermediate, and'' eight junior -societies were accounted for, and approximately the combined membership must total nearly 300 ac ; * tive. It was decided to arrange a prominent speaker for the next meeting to give, if possible, an insight regarding the C.E. movement in Australia. The treasurer announced a cash balance in hand of 6/11. -
