DEMONSTRATION PROCEEDS. At a meeting last evening of the Canterbury Patriotic Demonstration Committee, a tentative balance sheet was submitted by Messrs G. T. Batley and B. Falck, secretary and treasurer respectively. This showed that, with several returns yet to come, the amount factually banked by the committee itself
is £IO6O 5/9, and there is £37 13/6 in hand. The estimated receipts are £1334 9/8, and the expenses £142 4/7. '■ It was explained that the estimated receipts announced on the night of the demonstration were over the mark, because in the rush errors were made in the adding up of the amounts. A final balance sheet will be drawn up as soon as the outstanding returns come in, and will be presented after it has been audited.
