HARRY LAUDER AND THE FLAG.
T« the Editor of TKE SUN. \ ' Sir, —In answer to "Not Blind," Mr Harry Lauder has paid 100 guineas for - the flag, and has offered the flag to the 'Flag Committee on condition that they get another 200 guineas for it. If the . 200 guin.eafe are forthcoming the safte&fc of the family Avill be responsible for .'IOO guineas being added to tire Patriotic Fund, and the simple Jonuy, Raw is .100 guineas out of pocket. Hairy Lauder is a Britisher, and Aw right ye ken, and not what "Not Blind" woulil mean to imply. My advice to "Not Blind" is not to "worry, but to send" ■' along one. guinea "to help keep the flag here, and I am sure he will sleep better o' nights and no dream so much rubbish.—l am; etc., A SGOTT FRA KYLE. To tile Editor of THE' STJ3PT. ' Sir, —I would be glad if you could enlighten me as to the exact stand Mir Lauder is taking in regard to the proposed sale of the flag for 200 guineas. : * There seems to be very divided opinioiis on this matter. I contend that-if ?Mr " Lauder is ; sueeessful in selling the flag again the Patriotic Fund will benefit to the extent of": 300 Lauder J s 100 and the , purchaser 's 2007 • and 1 would be pleased if you would ascertain and advise the public defi-. nitely of the exaet position. I cannot 1 . believe it possible that a countryman of ,vmine,.After getting the thanks for ... his 100 guineas, is likely, to take the money; back \again;—l am, etc., SCOTCHMAN. [The position is made perfectly clear in the report on page 8 of the meeting of -the Demonstration Committee, whic,fr was h«ld >last STIN.] ' J
