LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
LABOUR AND THE ELECTIONS. To the Editor of THE SUN.
Sir, —I do not know where John Plowman gets his facts from concern-' ing division in the Labour ranks. I had the honour to preside at a conference of Social-Democratic Party and. United Labour party representatives. It was considered that there were onlythree seats in .Wellington where Labour had a possible chance of "winning. The United Labour Party suggested three names for those seats, and the SocialDemocratic Party proposed that the twe parties should choose alternately candidates for the seats to be contested, and thus preserve a united front at the elections. It was suggested that the United Labour Party should have first choice. The delegates undertook toreport to their organisations and meetagain. There was not the slightest suggestion of opposing Mr "Fletcher in hi* fight against Mr Fisher, nor was there any suggestion to oppose Mr WilfordThe statement that the Social-Demo-cratic Party will contest all six seats has not the slightest foundation. It has been suggested that only two seats, should be contested by the joint Labouf parties.—l am, etc., : J. -McCOMBS.
