THE TROOPSHIPS. ATHENIC REPLACES THE AS, AW A. The troopship,, Arawa has been ordered to Wellington, and will be replaced by the Alheuic. The reason for Shis' change is that the Arawa and Tahiti have been found to be too small xo accommodate all the Canterbury troops, nnd therefore? the Arawa has been replaced by the Atheuie, which n a accommodate a much* larger number troops. ALDINGTON CAMP. BOTH REGIMENTS COMPLETE. The two regiments at Addington Camp "e now complete, there being, in fac:, .a few men over the required numbers. Luit night's parade state showed that there were 113 2 officers and men in the Infantry Regiment and 5715 in the Mounted Regiment. There are also 31 Army RjjKorvists, etc., attached to the . Infantry Regiment. This 'morning attack practice was carried out by the, infantry, under Lieut. - Colonel Stewart,' at South Park, the presence of Colonel -Chafi'ey, Officer Commanding the District, and Colonel Smith, Cam;« ''Commandant. The work done s hows the benefit the men have already, received from the"training they are undergoing. The mounted men carried out squadron •drill at the South Park, and showed themselves .to 1..e progressing satisfactorily. General leave is being granted this .afternoon from 1 p.m. till 5 p.m. This evening at 7 o'clock the Infantry wiil leave the camp for a route march. The health of the men in camp is good. •There aro a few cases of slight influenza, but no iilnefs of ' more than a trivial nature has occurred. As the troops have now been in camp for a fortnight, ail the straw now in the tents will be taken out to-morrow and replaced with new straw. This operatiou will offer an opportunity for thoroughly <1 vying and ventilating the tents. To-morrow the troops will be granted lcai'o from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. There wid le no leave on Monday or Tuesday. The band parades daily at 9 a.m. and :2 p.m. for practice. It is notified that in cases where parents wish to prevent their sons going with the Expeditionary Fofce because of sickness in the home, discharges may be granted to men who have been sworu in on the following conditions: —The •officer commanding the unit must approve; an efficient substitute must be immediately available : the men must refund the amount of expense incurred in taking them to the camp, in maintaining sthein there, and the cost of used equipment, boots, etc. ' APPOINTMENTS AND PROMOTIONS. Chaplain-Captain Taylor has 1 een appointed to the Arawa, anil ChaplainCaptain King to the Tahiti. Chaplain<Japt«in King has been apx>ointed Chaplain to the Mounted Rifles. Private Hilson has been promoted, to the rank of sergeant, posted to I) Company of,the Infantry Regiment. Private W. G. Smily has been promoted' to the rank of Armourer'Sergcant to B Company of the Infantry JBegiment. Private R. R. White has been appointed Lance-Corporal in charge of the orderlies at the officers' mess.

Bugler. Osborne, of B Company (Infantry), lias been promoted to bandsergeant. Quartermaster Sergt. Fraser has bejn

posted to B Company as platoon-sergeant. Sergt.-Major Shearme has been posted to D Company as platoon-sergeant. The mounted regiment has now its full number of horses, but some of the animals are not suitable and will be exchanged. 'Colonel Russell, Brigadie* of the Mounted Forces of New Zealand, has condemned several of the horses which were in use. A SCHOOL FAREWELL. The Old Boys' Association of the "West i Christchurch School this afternoon farewelled the old boys of the school who are going with the Expeditionary Force. A number of old boys and the senior scholars were assembled, and the Mayor (Mr H. Holland) presented eadi of the members of the Force •with a useful scout knife, accompanied with a letter expressing appreciation that eighteen old boys were going to the front. The names of the members of the Force were as follow: —Lieutenant W. Skiltou, Sergeant H. Marks, Corporal W. Pratt, Corporal Lee, yrivates W. S. Hughes, A. E. Chapman, C. 11. Rounds, A. C. W. Bain, Troopers L. C. Penlington, Gordon, Privates J. Reunie, G. Taylor, R. R. Whvte, Trooper Seed, Privates W. J. Stevens, K. de Mans, Sergeant Fisher, Private Beanland, and Sergeant McKay. Corporal Pratt., who was a member of the school teaching staff, was presented with a wristlet watch from the teachers. Lieutenant Skelton replied on behalf of the men. Other- speakers were Messrs J. Caughicy, M.A. (headmaster), F. Waller, C. I>. Hardie (a former headmaster), and Dr. Chilton (chairman of tJfie School Committee). Troopers Nottingham and Lattimore "were admitted to the hospital from the Addiagton Camp hist evening, Nottingham .suffering from typhoid foyer, and Lattimore from appendicitis.
