Two first offenders for drunkenness were fined 5/-, with the usual option, while a female first offender was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, the understanding being that she must remain in the Salvation Army Home for six months. BY-LAW BREACHES. James Mclntvre, for riding a motor cycle on the footpath, was fined 10/-. Herbert Williams, for riding a motor cycle at an excessive speed 011 Ric-ear-ton Road, was fined 10/-. Ernest Adcock, for driving a taxicab on Riccarton Road at an excessive speed, was fined 10/- and costs. Robert H. Davidson and .Walter Good, for passing a street crossing at an excessive pace 011 motor vehicles, were each fined 10/-. Arthur John Watts, charged with driving a motor cycle down Dyer's.Pass Road at a speed "exceeding 10 miles per hour, was lined 20/- and costs. Howard Potter, for driving a motor cycle without a light)
was fined 5/-. John Robertson, for motoring without a tail light, was fined 5/-.- Stanley Duegarde, for motoring without a tail light, was convicted and discharged. T MAINTENANCE. Alfred George Milford, for failing to provide maintenance for his two children in Dunedin, was remanded to appear at Dunedin on Monday next. SHOPS AND OFFICES ACT. A. Hobday, charged with failing to close his shop-on the statutory halfholiday, was convicted and discharged.* TRUANCY. '' " " Sydney Smith, for failing to send two children to school regularly, was. fined 4/- and costs. MISAPPROPRIATION. Alfred Howard, charged on two; counts with the misappropriation of'small sums of money, was convicted 011 both charges and discharged on the grounds that he was serving a sentence of two years' reformative treatment on another charge.
