An interesting state of affairs political with respect to the Wellington constituencies is disclosed in an article which is published 011 F'g o The petty jealousies that have ever made the Labour camp of New Zealand a house divided are about to express themselves in cut,-throat contests for the several Wellington seats. The Social-Democratic Party has expressed its intention of running a, candidate for each seat, and liie l T nited Labour Party, galvanised into political activity thereby, has also decided to be represented at the next election in the capita! city. This amounts to a division which will be greatly to the liking of the Reform Party, which can now sit. hack with a mind more or Jess undis turned while the contending industrial ists scuflle impotently at the foot of the, poll. It is an interesting, nay, an anuis ihg spectacle, the humour of which'will appeal strongly to the Minister of Marine, who was promised a.severe contest in Wellington Central if he and Mr K. Fletcher—an old, but dreaded (,pponent —were left to fight it out, man against man. If the S.I).P. (urged to the polls by romantic aspirations), and the I'.L.P.
