RECORDS BROKEN ON A MATCHLESS. In Wellington M.C.C. hill climb last week a 3J h.p. Matchless wiped the floor with every other machine opposed to it. The course was one on which steer horse-power would tell, being per fectly straight and excessively steep. The report says:—"ln all heats and the final the Matchless started like a shot irom a gun, and completely outclassed everything, up to and including all the 7 h.p. machines. It made fastest time of the day and record for the hill." This is the fourth successive vin in the North Island in four competitions, a side car trial, two hill climbs, and a race on the flat. Be it noted that no other 3£ h.p. motor cycle got anywhere near the Matchless in the Wellington hill climb, the next* fastest machines being of : foreign make, with engines more than twice as large as the Matchless.
