HOCKEY.
SOUTH ISLAND TEAM. The following hockey team has been chosen to represent the South Island the match with the North Island team, to be played in Wellington on September 12:—Goalkeeper, A. Strang (Southland); backs, P. Martin (Canterbury), and G. Fitt (Otago); halves, W. Duffield (Canterbury), 11. Slater (Otago), and J. Anderson (South Canterbury); forwards, W. Patrick (Canterbury), S. Richards (Southland), H. Throp (Canterbury), J. By burn (Otago), and P. Egan (Buller). Emergencies: Forwards, A. Stratton (Nelson) "and Reid (Marlborough).
