TO-NIGHT'S PATRIOTIC CONCERT.
The grand patriotic concert-organised by Mrs Gower-Burns, which takes place at the King Edward Barracks to night, promises to be a great success. The programme will be provided by local artists, who will give the following well-known patriotic songs:—"When the Empire Calls," " There's a Land,'' "Soldiers of the King," "Sons of the Sea," " The Old ' Superb,' " " Sons of New Zealand," ;"Tlie Absent-minded Beggar,";" Red, White, and Blue," 11 Rule Britannia." Selections will be given by the Woolston Band. The Mayor, Colonel Chaffey and Staff have promised to be present. An invitation has also been issued to the Expeditionary Force at the camp to be present. The Cadet Drum and Fife Band will parade through the town, and play outside the barracks. Leaflets with choruses of patriotic songs will be distributed, so as to enable the audience to join in the singing. Messrs Milner and Thompson are kindly providing the programmes of the concert and the piano, Messrs Weeks and Co. the tickets, and Mr Sweeney will give his services as stage manager.
