AUSTRIANS ANNIHILATED.
Cossacks in ambush. :v mow down ' cavalry; LONDON, August 14. The "Daily Chronicle's" Milan correspondent states that five thousand Cossacks annihilated two Austrian cavalry regiments from Lemberg, in Galicia, which, emboldened by the Russia* withdrawal, had advanced. The Governor of Lublin (in Russian' Poland) got wind of the sally, and rapidly collected the Cossacks, who were supported by a field battery, and prepared 'six ambush in a dense forest skirting ,tlte ir.am road. Owing to rams the overflow of the Vistula and the Wieperz , had; converted the countryside opposite the'forest into a vast swamp. The Austrians arrived in the evening, and the Governor allowed the advance guard to pass. When the main body appeared J " t _- sotnias of Cossacks charged' them i» front and rear, and quiekfirers, hidden in the forest, mowed down the cavalry. Hundreds of terrified horses leapt into, the marshes and sank to their haunches. The Austrian regiments were wiped out." ATHENS, August 13. The Russian Legation states that-the . concentration of Russians oji the Galician frontier has been completed, and an offensive movement is imminent, to coincide with the Servian advance on the Danube.
