A BRILLIANT SUCCESS.
TRENCH TAKE THOUSAND PRISONERS. GERMAN GUNS CAPTURED. (Received August 15, 8.50 a.m.) PARIS, August 14. Two French battalions, at Spine ourt, on the River Ohain, on Tuesday afternoon, sustained an attack by a considerably larger German force, aiul were compelled to retreat. They were reinforced during the night by infantry and artillery, and the French - counterattacked, and won a brilliant success, the Germans abandoning a battery, three mitrailleuses, and several ammunition waggons, also leaving many wounded behind them. A French battery cm Thursday surprised a column of dragoons and took a thousand prisoners who had been wounded the day before, including nine officers. The German column in this region is now retreating.
