RECORDS BROKEN ON A MATCHLESS. In Wellington M.C.C. hill climb last week <n 3A h.p. Matchless wiped the floor with every other machine opposed to it. The course was one on which steer horse-power would tell, being perfectly • straight and excessively steep. The report says: —"In all heats ayd the final the Matchless started like a shot irom a gun, and completely outclassed everything, up to and including all the 7 h.p. machines. It made fastest time of the day and record for the liijl." This is the fourth successive arin in the North Island in four competitions, a side car trial, two hill climbs, and a rate on the flat. Be it noted that no other h.p. motor cycle got anywhere near the Matchless in the Wellington hill climb, the next fastest machines being of foreign make," with engines more than twice as large as the Matchless.
