There was a very, large attendance of the public at the lecture given by the Eev. Percy Knight, 8.A., at the Sydenham Methodist Church on Thursday evening. " •■■ ' The subject of the lecture was "The Life and ■ Wdrks of Dante, the Immortal.'■ The lecture was of a most interesting nature throughout, and Mr Knight is to be heartily congratulated on the'happy manner in which he handled "Ms subject. The lecture was illustrated by a large number of magnificent pictures. The proceeds were in aid of the Sydenham Church Trust funds, and during the evening the minister of the Church (Eev. A. N. Scotter, 8.A.) announced that the Church had fallen heir to a bequest of nearly £loo, through the death of an old church member (Mr Tregonin), who had left the amount mentioned as a mark of his sympathy and regard for the Church with which he had been associated.
