Mr Ernest Short, the well-known breeder of Romney Marsh sheep, has accepted an offer from the Panama Exhibition Commission, asking him to act as Commissioifer of Stock at the Exhibition.

Further changes in the offices of Government departments are being made. Rimmer) ; serenade, "In This Hour of Soft and" Splendour''- (Ciro ■■ Pinsuti).; fantasia, "The Outlaw'.' (W. Rimmer); hymn, ''Abide.. With a ;Me,''' \ 'God Save the King."'' A very enjoyable . concert was given in the Qddf ellows' Hall, Lytteltbh, the proceeds from which will be devoted to swelling'the Open-air Home for Children fund, Uhfortunately several who had promised' their assistance were unable to fulfil their - engagements/ but nevertheless the programme submitted to the large audience was an interesting and keenly appreciated one.. Instrumental items were given by the Christchurch Ramblers' Orchestra under Conductor D. Blith, solos by the Rev. A. Mitchell, a character song and Chorus by Messrs W. Carson, Smith, Symonds, and Boyd, and humorous recitations by Mr H. McD. Vincent. The •'■ glees rendered by the Methodist Church choir proved very acceptable items, while exceeding merriment was caused among the juveniles at the antics of "Six Prize, Roosters" in the Hen Convention.
A large number of friends gathered in the Moorhouse Avenue Church of Christ Schoolroom to bid God-speed to Miss D. Bull and Miss L. MeNally. These two young women have volunteered for service in the foreign field, and leave Christchureh next Wednesday fdr the Church of Christ mission at Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia. Mr Ralph Gebbie, who presided, alluded to the splendid work and Christian characters of the two young missionaries. Presentations were made from the Bible school, Bible class, choir, and church, and valedictory speeches were made on behalf of the various organisations of the church. A programme of music was concluded by Mrs Gebbie, who sang "Good-bye."
