(Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are .average market prices on spot.) Mutton: The market ia quiet with no reduction in prices. Canterbury, 4§d for light-weight; heavy-weight, 3 15-16 d. North Island, 4gd for lightweight. • Lamb: Trade is fair, with holders accepting a small reduction. The demand is chiefly for very light- weight. Canterbury two's 6£d, heavy-weights (fours), 5 7-16 d; other than Canterbury 6d. Higher prices have been obtained in "each ease for very lightweight. Beef: Th<? market is steady, with an improved demand, especially for hinds at 4Jd, fores 3g-d, chilled hinds 6d, fores-3M. -
Butter: The market is steady at an advance. Danish is slow at, per fcwt, I'M/- to 132/-. Now Z Zealand ia quiet at 11S/- to 122/-, nominal. Australia* h in "fViir demand at 108/- to 112/:; exceptionally choice 114/-. Siberian ia ui -uou uemand at 106/- to 108/-. Irish creamery r The market is quiet, but firm at 116/- to 120/-. Cheese: The market is steady with prices well maintained. Canadian shows an increasing demand. White and coloured, per cwt, 6.'}/- to 64/-. New Zealand white is in good demand, but the supply is small at 05/6 to 66/-; coloured, 63/- to 65/-. Hemp: The market is quiet and steady. New Zealand, good fair, per ton, £25 10/-; fair, £23 10/-; Manila, fair current, £26, with forward shipment at same prices. The output from Manila for the week was 21,000 bales. Linseed: The market is quiet, but firm. Price, ex store, 44/- per 4161b5. Wheat: The market is firmer on account of unfavourable reports from America and Canada. New Zealand long-berried wheat,, ex granary, on spot, per quarter, of 4961b5, 35/-. Oats. Oats aje in more demand. NewZealand oats (sparrowbills), ex granary, on spot, per quarter of 3841b5, 21/3. Peas. The market is firm with a hardening tendency. New Zealand peaa (Partridge), per 5041b5, 51/6. Beans: The market is quiet and firm. New Zealand beans, f.a.q. (new crop), per 5041b5, 34/6. Cocksfoot: The market is dull. Average price for bright, clean, New Zealand seed, weighing 171bs per bushel, on spot, per cwt, 58/-. BRIEF... fli. . .fEL... ffi... ffi. .. ffl. .. A Blenheim Press Association message says that the Hon. R. Heaton Rhodes, Postmaster-General, opened the new post office at Seddon this afternoon. He will lay the foundation stone of the new hospital in Blenheim tomorrow.
