To-morrow H.M.S. Psyche and H.M.S. Pyramus are expected to arrive in Ly Melton from the north, and they should remain here about three weeks.
After being delayed iu tlieir departure on Saturday, the Union Company's Corinna and Te Anau left for Dunedin yesterday morning, the latter' vessel under tow. She will be laid up for an indefinite period at Port Chalmers. A SMART TRIP: Prttt Association. AUCKLAND, July 26. The Maheno arrived from Sydney at 11 o'clock on Saturday night. The passage of 1281 miles was accomplished in the smart time of 3 days 7 hours 58 minutes actual steaming time. A strong set in the ocean currents met for the first 24 hours out meant a loss of about 14 miles on the day's run. The Maheno averaged 16 knots .throughout the run. The distance Of 211 miles from Cape Maria to Auckland was accomplished at a speed of 17 knots. The steamer's new engines were well tested on this voyage, and the ship's, officers state that the vessel has lost her long rolling motion which was so conspicuous whfeu- she was steaming under her old turbines, and there has been a saving of 20 per cent, in coal consumption.
