(Received July 25, 2.30 p.m.) Although Brookes and Wilding won in straight sets, their victory was by no means uncontested. In the first set the Canadians led by 4 to 1, when with a great rally the Australasians won the set, which was characterised throughout by thrilling volley play. The game was somewhat impeded by the state of the courts, which were spongy on account of the rain, and which had to be dried-with bath towels and brooms before the match.
