HIGH SCHOOL ROBBERY.

An event that was not programmed j took place at the meeting of the High | School Old Girls' Association, which' was held in the High School last evening. There was a large number of girls j:resent, and a considerable proportion, of them left their coats in the cloak room on the ground floor. At the conclusion of the meeting, when they proceeded to don their wraps, they were tret with a disagreeable surprise in the shape of empty pockets. A thief had evidently entered while they were occupied upstairs, and had systematically rifled the pockets of all the coats in the cloak room, abtracting all the money they contained. Fortunately, the sums vere not large, six shillings being the thief's biggest scoop. One of the gi"ls, who was lucky enough to take her coat upstairs with her, and who therefore lest nothing, describes the discovery of the robbery as very amusing. First one girl found that her pockets had been picked; her friend, to whom she confided her loss, made a hasty investigation, and came to the same conclusion; then another girl made a similar discovery, and presently, amidst much excitement, they discovered that they had ail been robbed. The "hauls" varied from six shillings to the humble "brownie," the latter representing a car fare home. Several young ladies, besides the pne mentioned, took their coats upstairs,

j„«d they iipanced those who required it with sufficient to satisfy the demands oi : the tram conductors for the journey home.

The cloak room was quite accessable, being only latched, and on the ground foor. No clue to the thief has been discovered.
