(Before Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. One first offender was fined 5/-, with the alternative of twenty-four hours in gaol. j> > , . Andrew Gilmoure, who, had made more than one appearance, was, fined 10/-, with the option of forty-eight hours' imprisonment. John Crowley was, charged with drunkenness and. with aA breach of his prohibition order. It was his third breach of the current order, and he was fined £3 for the offence. A conviction was entered-"for drunkenness. STOLEN CIGARS. Clarence Pentecost was charged with having broken into the shop of Charles. Childs, at Lahwood, on July 7, stealing therefroni cigars and cigarettes to the value of 60/-. Detective Gibson said that, in searching accused's room in a house at Linwood, he found all the. articles produced. Accused had on him the key of Childs's shop. When charged with the offence, he admitted it, and said he opened the door with the key in question. Accused, pleading guilty, was committed for sentence to the Supreme Court. DEFENCE CASES. The following were fined for failing to render * personal serviee under the Defence Act:—Ralph J. Dixon, £3 and deprived at civil rights for three years; William P. Dumphy £l, Leslie Evans £l, Rowland Hill £l, A. James 40/-, Harold R. Johnson 40/-, Fred King 40/-, Alfred T. Legross, Heathcote Mann £5 and deprived of civil rights for three years. SUNDRY OFFENCES. PercivaL George Smith, ah unregistered plumber, was fined 5/-, with costs. William Collard, for failing to send his child to school, was fined 5/-, and for a similar offence, William Mehlohpt was fined 2/-.
