WORSE THAN MEXICO.

MAITLAND STRIKE TROUBLE.

A SERIOUS UPHEAVAL.

By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright, (Received July 14, 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 14.

The president of the United LabourUnion, who has visited the Maitland strike area, states that the situation there is worse than in Mexico. There is an army of three thousand miners, but with no plan of campaign. They are thrown entirely on their own resources, and the present position is worse than any industrial trouble since the maritime strike of 1890. The only way out of the difficulty is, he says, for the miners to reorganise, to prevent politicians having official control.
