OPEN-AIR HOME.

COMMERCIALS BUSY. The sub-committee of the Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Association, which are concerned in raising funds for the Open Air Home for Children, met last night, the president, Mr S A. Orchard, being chairman.

The president stated that he would be responsible for the motor cars to be used in the procession to be held on August 1. Already 30 cars had been promised, and he was sure enough would be forthcoming. It was decided that it would be inadvisable for children- to take part in the piocession. Arrangements for costumes were settled, and members promised to organise a Dark-Town Fire Brigade if the necessary properties could be borrowed from the city brigade. The Route Committee reported that about 200 men would be needed as scouts and marshals. As at present arranged the procession would start from Latimer Square at 9.30 a.m. The collecting area to be covered by the scouta would be, roughly, between Durham Street on the west, Madras street on the east, Armagh Street on the north, and the Railway on the south, and special attention would be given to the sports grounds where matches were in progress. The actual route of the procession had not been settled, but it was proposed that it shouuld be down Madras Street to Cashel Street, to the Clock Tower, from the Clock Tower down High Street, along Manchester Street, Gloucester Street, Colombo Street, and so to the Square. It was suggested that a "thermometer" should be set up outside the association's offices to record the progress of the' collection.

The next meeting will be held at 7.30 p.m. on July 18.
