At the Cambridge Terrace Methodist Men's Class yesterday afternoon" the Mayor (Mr H. Holland) delivered an address upon "True National Development." He pointed out the importance of work and legislation in the direction of making New Zealand productive and prosperous, but he contended tliat above all it was necessary that national character should keep pace with national commercial development. He drew attention to some of the evils which were likely to become powerful if not watched and checked, and from the examples of other countries showed the benefits which could follow wise municipal and national legislation.
