Mrs Francis Skinner, of Boston, whose husband died on the«, liner Caronia on her last voyage from England, has been left the entire fortune of her husband, valued at £2,000,000. Mrs Skinner was a shop-girl in a largo Boston department store, and her marriage to Mr Skinner was romantic. Miss Carr, as she was thou, was on a holiday at Marblehead with some girl friends,'and as they were admiring Mr Skinner's yacht the owner invited them on board. "The acquaintance thus began resulted in marriage.
Mr Skinner was the nephew of Mrs '' «l aek " C<arduer, well known as possessing the finest collection of paintings and private art galleries in the world. Mrs Gardner's house in Boston, which is open to the public on certain days, has its facade entirely constructed from the front of a Venetian palace, the stones from which were brought from Italy several years ago.
