NEW ZEALAND BOWLERS.
VISIT TO NEW SOUTH WALES. By Cable. — Press Association. — Copyright. ~~, SYDNEY, July 3. After two disappointments, owing to rain, the New Zealand bowlers played the Randwick Club, where they were cordially welcomed. Mr Bush, responding to a toast, declared that Australia was right with respect to two feet on the mat, but he argued that the amalgamation of the two Councils at present was debatable. Mr Whitehouse, a member of the Council, declared that the New Zealanders' contention that a toucher forced over the line, was dead was correct. The visitors, who were suffering from lack of practice, were playing practically a championship team. The greens were slow and heavy from recent rains, and a shower. during the match did not improve conditions. After a well-contested game the visitors suffered defeat by 140 to 93. They were beaten on all rinks save one, where Thompson's team succeeded in making a draw, 21 each. The following are the New Zealand scores:— Duncan, Neave, Rixon, and Sutcliffe, 14; Potter, Coles, Nash, and Tasker, 17; M'Cardie, Mason, Smith, and Creagh, 18; Sharman, Parkinson, Columb, and Bush, 13; Palliser, Gallic, Reid, and Coltman, 10; Parritt, Lewis, Marker, and Thompson, 21. The Katoomba trip has been postponed owing to continued wet.
The New Zealanders leave on the Queensland tour on Wednesday.
