LATE SHIPPING.

SHIPPING NOTES. To-day the Rotorua leaves Auckland for Tokomaru Bay, and is due at Wellington next Monday. Cabled advice has been received that the Star of Victoria, which left Wellington for London on May 12, reached the Home port last Thursday. When repairs to the steamer Walkure's boiler have been carried out in Wellington, she "will proceed to Westport next iweek to take in bunker coal. She then goes to Makatea Island to load phosphates for Denmark.

Last night the steamer Rimutaka left Lyttelton for Wellington to loading for West Coast ports of the United Kingdom., Now loading timber at Greymouth, the Opouri is expected in port about next Friday.

The heavy southerly weather is causing } some long passages between ports. The Maori on her run down last night encountered a very strong southerly blow shortly after leaving Wellington, and again when nearing Lyttelton. The Tarawera left Wellington shortly after 8 p.m., and had not been signalled at Lyttelton at 12.30 o'clock to-day. The Heads reported that a heavy sea was Running and that the weather was very thick. The only vessel in sight was the steamer John, from . Timaru, and she reached port about 1.30 p.m. After having been delayed in Sydney in consequence of the bad weather, the F. and S. Line's chartered steamer Northern left the New South Wales port yesterday for Auckland in continuation of her voyage from Liverpool. She is now expected at Wellington about July 6, and at Lyttelton a few days later.

Last Sunday the C. and D. Line's steamer Star of England arrived at Melbourne from London after a smart passage of 38 days. She has cargo for northern New Zealand ports, and is due in Wellington to complete discharge about July 14. The Star of England ws.s built at Belfast by Messrs Workman, Clark, and Co., and is now on her maiden voyage. Last night the Chatham Island trader Himitangi left Wellington for Lyttelton en route to the Chatham Islands. She had not proceeded for when she was compelled to return to port owing to a breakdown. The local agents advise that it will be some two or three days before she leaves Wellington. This morning the Kaipara arrived at Waitara from Lyttelton for Homeward loading.

The steamer Linden left the Bluff at 8 a.m. to-day for Lyttelton.
