(From Our Special Correspondents.) WAIAU. TJhere is no. justice of the Peace resident in. Waiau township, and the Heed of one near at hand becomes most apparent. whenever ! one wishes to execute any documents requiring the services,of a justice. A petition is at present being circulated requesting the Hon. A. L. Herdman, Minister of Justice, to appoint one or two gentlemen in Waiau itself. The'fir'st round of the football matches played under the newly-formed Hurumii Sub-union has now been completed, and in each match the home team, whether it be-Waiau, Cheviot, or Kaikoura, has invariably been successful. Each club las therefore ; won one match and lost one. The reasons for the success of the home team have to do with more than the. matter of, the ground.
