ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
MEETING OF CANTERBURY CENTRE.
The weekly meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Football Association was held last evening. There were present, Messrs E. English (chairman), F. L. Eastgate, W. Connor, A. Russell, P. Gill, P. L. Da vies, W. G. Ramsay, J. Burgess, W. G. Ives, E. Ritson, Drs Gow and Marks, and Rev. Father Quinn. The secretary of the St. Albans Club complained that during the season „they had only played once at St. Albans Park; the junior and fourth grade teams had played away from home every match. They asked that they should be given more games on their own ground. The committee decided to take no action in the matter.
The Rangers Club protested against the decision of the association in ordering a re-play of the Christehurch Unit-ed-Rangers game, which, owing to a mistake on the part of the referee, had
ended on a draw. The letter went on to state that if the appeal were dismissed the matter would be placed before the N.Z. Association.
Mr Burgess moved and Mr Connor seconded, that the association adhere to its decision. The motion was carried. The St. Albans Club drew attention to the unsatisfactory marking out of grounds. The matter was left in the hands of the Grounds Committee.
The secretary of the Wellington Football Association asked if a Canterbury representative team could be sent to Wellington on July 25, and offered 50 per cent, of the net gate. A challenge was being entered for the Brown Shield, but whether a game could be arranged for the current season was doubtful.
It was decided to reply that it was impossible to comply with the request for the- game. The application of the Christchurch United Club to have B. E. Rigg and S. Moore re-graded from senior to junior grade was granted. On the motion of Mr Davies it was decided that all fixtures for the season be adhered to.
Messrs Burgess, Ritson, and Connor were appointed a committee to deal with the matter of procuring cups for
competition in the third and fourth grades, and also for the junior schools. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Gow for donating seven medals for presentation to the most improved playei in each school team.
