A ],lain-clothes constable endeavoured to arrest a man named Driscoll, wanted for house-breaking, a Jierce'struggle resulting. A bystander rushed to Driscoll 's assistance, who succeeded in escaping. The 'constable -fired three shots, each-taking effect in 1)riseoll "s shoulder. The latter only- increased' his speed, but, the constable overtook iiiin, aiid another desperate struggle ensued, Driscoll fighting furiously. 1 Tvio other men attack-
