ICE CREAM KING.

They wore singing for the soul of Luigi Pralo, "Jting of Little Italy"— of that region-between.the Clerkenwcll Road and Eosebery Avenue which in the' heart of London is wholly Italian, and largely Italian of the South, writes an English exchange under date May 4. . Luigi Pralo, a Neapolitan, came to London l\2 years ago with £lO in his pocket. He*began with one ice-barrow, made a fortune, was kind and benlfieent to his poor' countrymen, and is dead.

And this morning his boys stood before the high altar of the Italian j Church. Burning yellow torches were about it, flowers, wreath upon wreath of roses and lilies and purple orchids were piled about the coffiu. The church was full of mourning Italians, and the'priest and deacon and sub-deacon in vestments of black and gold went up to the altar and began the mass for the dead as the choir sang the Kyrie. The whole of the mass was sung to plain chant. In the Clerkenwell Road, in spite of heavy showers of rain, a large crowd had gathered. There were the usual coaches for the mourners, and after them came four-wheeled ca.bn, and at last, queer-looking gigs ami traps, full of people who wished to show their regret f'oi the passing-of the good Italian, 1 Luigi PralO.
