CARPENTERS' AND JOINERS'
UNION.
There was a large attendance'at'the half-yearly meeting of the Canterbury Carpenters' and Joiners' Union, which was held in the Trades Hall on Wednesday evening. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows: —President, Mr H. R. Rus-t-ridge; vice-president, Mr W. J; Tindall; secretary, Mr F. ,1. Eldridge; treasurer, Mr C. Goodsall; cheek steward, Mr J. Pollard; auditors, Messrs G. Hillsden and Vincent; committee, Messrs W. Ker, F. Priest, T. C. Alexander, A. Tuff, and G. D. White.
It was deeided to donate a sum of £lO 10/- to the Children's Open-Air Home Fund, and to grant £5 to a member who was in bad health. Owing to the large accumulation of funds it was suggested that the committee go into the questions of revising the rules and scale of contributions. A motion that no part Avhatever be taken in the July conference was carried unanimously. . LABOUR CONFERENCE. Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 19. Among the principal matters for discussion at the July Labour Conference on the industrial side will be the following: — "That the constitution adopted by the big congress in July last be the basis of discussion for organisation at coming conference, and that the constitution be amended in the direction of making it possible to become a part of an Australasian Federation of Labour.''
