R. S. M'KENZIE'S PREMISES. The most up-to-date auctioneering premises so far erected in Christchureh are those of R. S. M'Kehzie and Co.> in; Cashel Street, which are now nearing' eompletion. In the front, of "the shop is a fine plate-glass, window, which gives a clear view of the high-. class furniture there displayed. Behind Jhis is a suite of offices, each of which is devoted to a different branch of the firm's business. Bight at the baek is a very commodious auction room. -this room is large, airy, ana" lofty, and is floored with Tama. It is particularly, well lighted, and is eminently suited for the display of pictures, a large wall having been specially adapted for this pur-; pose. The room is 120 ft long and 26ft. wide.

One of the most important branches of the firm's business S the land and estate agency. In connection with this there has been-estabKshcd~an admirable system of card indexing. The cards are kept in specially designed cabinets, and contain every particular of all properties to let, for sale, or for exchange. If the property is a house, a photograph is pasted on the card, so that prospective customers can form a complete idea of the property without the trouble of visiting it personally. As the firm says, all the routine of house inspection is done by its own staff, and the customer is spared all unnecessary trouble. This system is certainly most complete and up-to-date. It affords the maximum of convenience to both sellers and buyers.

The upper • portion of the building is occupied by a very large showroom in connection with the firm's newly-estab-lished furniture branch. This showroom is very large, and is eminently suited for the purpose intended. Mr It. S.
