The Town Clerk (Mr H. R. Smith) celebrated his silver wedding on Wednesday, the 17th inst. Last evening he was invited to enter the Council Chamber, and there he was confronted by the assembled *taff and a number of members of the City Council. The city surveyor (Mr A. Dudley Dobson) con; veyed the felicitations of the gathering to Mr Smith, and asked his acceptance of a solid silver. rose bowl, suitably engraved. Mr Smith made a suitable response, thanking the staff for their very kind recognition of au anniversary which had so much interest for Mrs Smith and himself. He very heartily appreciated their good wishes and congratulations.
