GERMAN-BUILT WARSHIPS.
That German-built warships are giring every satisfaction to the Russian naval authorities is evidenced by the fact that whenever cruisers, travelling at express speed, are required, the order is, almost without exception, given to German builders. Only last year the Nowith, designed by the Vulcan works of Hamburg and Stettin, established a ■ record for speed, entitling her to be ranked as the fastest war vessel alloat, and now again a cruiser has been launched which, although her speed will not equal that of the Nowith, is still to have a contract speed of 26 nautical miles per hour. This new vessel is the Muraview Amurski, a cruiser of 4400 tons displacemeent, which was launched oi. April 11 from the yards of F. Schichau, the well-known Danzig shipbuilding firm, in the presence of representatives of the Russian Government and naval authorities. The same firm have on hand a sister ship of the Muraview Amurski. She will be named the A«i miral Newelskoj.
