Since the forgery of bank-notes was reported from Auckland, the police have kept a sharp look-out on all vessels from the Dominion, though they failed to detect the atrival of any suspects. The movements of a foreigner, however, aroused suspicion, and he was closely watched. To-night a strong force of detectives paula' surprise visit ;to a ibdging-iipus'e in Redferh, and arrested the foreigner while he. was atdinjier.'
A search of his. room revealed a Complete pliant for printing banknotes, .including a press, printer's ink,, yalujable lenses, prepared plates for. (etching,. and a one-pound National Bank note, under his pillow was a, fully-loided automatic pistol. t •
