WIND-PROOF NOSE.
At the German Surgical Congress at Berlin last month, Professor Koenig, of Marburg, described his invention- for manufacturing • a " wind-proof'' nose. He explained that all artificial - noses hitherto devised were of so frail construction that a sudden gust of wind might at any time wrench them from their places. Professor Koenig's patent nose consists of a framework duplicating different parts of the real organ and built/out of the surface of the breastbone and the adjacent ribs. The bridge of the nose. and the cartilage are constructed from the breast-bone and the sides of the nose from ribs. . Professor Koenig declares that he has.carried out numerous successful operations for supplying wind-proof noses.
of the trustees contended that inasmuch as the official was doing little in the capacities of dog warden and street commissioner, she was not entitled to as much pay as the former marshals had received. . The marshal pointed out that she had paid a man from her own means to.keep catch basins free from snow and ice. But lidol a day was all the trustees would allow. The marshal says she will get her 2dol a day in the end, even if she has to take her claim into the courts.
