COALGATE SALE.
At the Coalgate sale yesterday "there was a yarding oi 3750 sheep and lambs, of which 2550 were ; ,i n the. fat pens, lambs aeeountnig for 2130, chieflylight weights, only a few pens being finished sorts. ' The balance of y fatff crisis made up of 300 The, entFj* of>stor,iesconsisted practically of lambs, 125 crossbred ewes and a pen of merino wethers making up the balance. There was a fair attendance of farmers, but freezing buyers were in; full forcel Competition for all, fats was very strong; and with-the-excep-tion of One Jine of lambs all were sold kt auction at full rates.. Prices' were:— Fat lambs 18/- to 20/1, lighter sorts and unfinished 14/40 to 17/8, fat crossbred wethers 18/- to 23/3, fat crossbred ewes 14/6 to 18/9, fat merino ewes 8/- to 15/9, sound-mouth crossbred ewes in lamb 16/8, aged (inferior) 9/-, soundmouth merino wethers 11/5, ewe lambs 14/9 to 15/10, wether lambs 13/3, mixed sexes 12/6 to 13/3, culls 6/5 to 9/-. Principal 'sales'/were: 177" ewe lanibs 15/10, 153 wether lambs 13/3, 217 mixed sexes 12/6. Fat lambs —Account M'Laughlan Bros., 46 at 20/1; Neave Chapman, 13 20/-; H. Oliver, 193 18/4 to 19/9; H. H. Thorne, 96 19/8; W. Watson, 14 19/7; W. T. Pollock, 43 19/4; R. Collings, 107 19/4; Webb Bros., 74 19/-; 1,. Derrett, 42 18/10; Godfrey Hall, 275 17/4 to 18/8; Wilfred Hajl, 205 16/1 to 18/6; H. Hawke, 40 16/10; Doody Bros., 115 16/6. ■ Cattle—About 30.head were yarded, all, selling at about market rates, eighteen-mpnth to t;wo-year-old heifers making from £3 to £5.
