There was an excellent entry in Merrett's Poultry Market to-day. "• Farmers have shown keener interest in poultry by providing better table poultry from heavy breeds. Table chickens primed realised 4/6 to 8/7, lighter specimens 1/6 to 3/6, ducks 5/- to 7/10, hens 2/- to 5/9, pullets 3/6 to 9/-, geese 7/- to 8/-, turkeys 9/- to 27/-, all per pair. THE EGG MARKET. Supplies, are coming in more freely, and prices are easier. Canterbury Egg Circle eggs, first grade, realised to-day 2/- to 2/i, seconds 1/9 to 1/11, farmers' lines 1/9 to 1/11 per dozen. THE EXPORT TRADE. Canterbury supplies of poultry have again proved inadequate, when an order for 2500 birds monthly was offered during the week and had to be declined. The order was from Australia. To accept it would have meant almost a depletion of the market. Farmers should note the - growing, importance of the poultry industry, and seek to produce in larger quantities.
