PIERPONT MORGAN'S INFLUENCE By Cable: — Press Association. — Copyright. NEW YORK, May 20. The Inter-State Commerce Commission investigating affairs in" regard to the New York, Newhaven, and Hartford railway, learned that the late Pierpont Morgan, spent millions of dollars in acquiring the subsidiary properties, of other financial magnates associated with him. Mr Mellen, ex-president of the railroad, declared that Mr Morgan treated him as a child. He was too awed to question anything Mr Morgan did. Mr Morgan consulted Mr Roosevelt about some purchases. Mr Roosevelt warned Mr Morgan that he must keep inside the law, whatever else he did.
