AUCKLAND, May 20. , - A six-roomed house the North > ; Head, belonging to the Government, - and ''occupied- by Captain Mickle,' ofiV cer in charge of the Permanent Aftil- ~ lery, Auckland Division, was completely "•' destroyed by fire to-night, all the , ' contents' practically being destroyed. ~ The furniture w-as insured in the Com- , - mereial Xlnion for £250. The loss is k -\ estimated at £400» The.buikling was within one hundred vards of the main magazine of, the forts. This created alarm in the neighbourhood, and a party of artillerymen . was employed in covering the ventilators of the magazine and preventing the ingress of any sparks. . Captain Mickle states that the cordite stored in the-magazine was in such a form - that there was no danger.- /
