His; Excellency the Governor; Lord Liverpool, had given" a gold* medial, to* be known as the Governor's medal,, whicli; would be competed; for; annually by the can-' didates in the higher examination for. diplomas. The ; winner this year had been ; Miss Amy Gilligan, A.T.C.L., who :had entered! im the; local l centre.' Trinity College granted every year six exhibi,tions in-the practical examinations to New Zealand, Tasmania, and. Canada candidates (two in each division), in the senior, intermediate, and junior grades; One- of these exhibitions; had; been won by Miss, Eileen. Carter in theJunior Division. Since the centre had. annexed one of the exhibitions given by tire College; it was interesting to? record:. that the complete? schema-, of; the, exhibitions had been*, in- existence: for 10, years and embraced, the whole Empire,I and that less than 620 exhibitions had" been awarded to a- total rvalue of £4340.
