LETTER-SOIEFEK IN' TROUBLE. Presn Association. - WELLINGTON, May 20. Frederick: David Plimmer; a* lettarr sorter; in: tlie Wellington* Post Office; was charged at the Magistrate's Court! with the theft, oxl two occasions, of tetters containing postal notes. Witnesses' for the' prosecution iincludied two: male and female* clterks in: the employ o£ ' ' ' EFobart, who testified: to- the receipt' of certain postal ■notes*; with instruction to-send/tickets in sweeps; J* detective stated that when: he' rat terviewed the- accused, the latter made ! a statement in which he said* he had purchased- a postal .note for ten shill!'iiigs- from- a woman —a- stranger. This lie had sent to "Tattersalls" in the name of the "Eileen" syndicate. ! Accused reserved his defence'and was •committed to the Supreme Court 'for trial.
